DMORT IV Application
Information
Information for persons
interested in becoming a member of DMORT Region IV:
1.
DMORT members are NOT volunteers.
DMORT members are considered as full
time federal government employees used (and paid) on an intermittent
basis. The application process is the same as for all federal
government employees.
2. DMORT
membership requires a commitment to
maintain deployable status.
This includes completing courses,
attending training and responding to e-mails and calls from team
leadership. Some training may be at the members expense.
3. Each DMORT applicant
must go through a rigorous security screening process.
It is possible that a prospective member
would have to travel at their own expense to get fingerprinted at a
federal government facility.
4. DMORT is part of the
National Disaster Medical System which an agency of the Department
of Health and Human Services.
Employees
of NDMS
have the same employment protection as members of the military.
5. DMORT members must have and wear the approved
uniform, whether it is provided or purchased by the individual team
member.
6. DMORT members are
required to keep team leadership up to date on their ability to
deploy.
All members must be on a first call
roster for at least three months each year.
7. Deployments are usually
for two weeks.
8. DMORT Region IV is made
up of the eight southeastern states.
These are
Kentucky,
Alabama,
Mississippi,
Florida,
Tennessee,
Georgia,
North Carolina
and
South Carolina.
9. There are limits on the
number of professional disciplines allowed on the team.
Currently
we are recruiting Pathologist, Anthropologist, Radiological
Technicians and Computer Specialist.
